Cast and Crew Positions

"RAT KiNG"
At the moment, the following crew positions are needed for our upcoming London feature "RAT KiNG". All crew members will be compensated on a deferred payment scheme (if the movie sells, the crew will split first dollar with the investors) and be included in future paid work that we're certain this project will lead to.

The shoot dates are May 9-31

Line Manager/Associate Producer
You'll work side by side with the producer all through April and May to make this micro-budget action film happen. Of course you'll need to be a hard-working creative genius.

DV Director of Photography
We need a real master of digital cinematography.  "RAT KiNG" is a story specifically designed to be told via DV on our Canon XL2, and the shoot will be a challenging one.  We are pouring our hearts into this production (and our bank accounts), and we're convinced this one will go the distance.  If you've got the experience, why not hop on board.

Sound Recordist/Boom Op
We love sound people; we worship sound people.  We think sound is just as important as photography for making a quality film.  So many low-budget productions have crappy sound; We don't want to be one of them.  If you've really got an ear for DV sound (we'll be recording sound right into our Canon XL2) why not join up with us and get the respect you deserve.

Music co-ordinator
If you've got your finger on the pulse of London's Indy music scene, and are interested in putting together a killer soundtrack for our feature, drop us a line and tell us what you're about.

1st Assistant Director
It’s a small crew, so expect to do everything and anything. Vehicle access a plus. If you have the experience and can do the job, let us know.  We'd love to have you on the team.

Make-up Designer
We've got lots of bruised and battered gangster guys who need to look their best, and the rest of the cast will need standard DV make-up. If you're up for the job, let us know.

Wardrobe Supervisor
Do you like charity shopping?  Have you got a flair for style?  We need your help making our tough guys look the part! You will only be needed on set for a few days.

Special Effects
We've got some serious gun fights in this film, and we need an F/X expert to manage all our blood work. You will only be needed on set for a few days.

Art Director/Prod Designer
Do you like redecorating location shoots?  Can you tell a story through the symbolism of objects?  Are you bursting with ideas about how to make a low-budget film more visually engaging?  If so, we want you! You will only be needed on set for a few days.

If you're interested in helping out, drop us a note

RAT KiNG -- story synopsis

Johnny ‘Psycho’ Sykowski, is out of prison earlier than anyone expected. Only he knows that the 9mm police bullet, trapped in his head for six prison years, now threatens to dispel any ruminations of revenge – time is ticking.

From a hideaway on the Isle of Sheppy, Johnny reflects on his past misdeeds and Rachel, the woman he lost through the time served on behalf of his ex-associate, Charlesworth – whom Johnny believes informed on him to the police.

Back in London, Johnny’s old friend Bill is approached by Mark Grady and offered a job involving the collection of unspecified merchandise for Grady’s elusive new boss, mastermind-criminal Frank Brannon. Grady wants the hard-man-of-repute and linguistically adept Johnny Sykowski involved. Yet years earlier, Johnny was Grady’s violent borstal nemesis.

Discovering Johnny’s whereabouts, ex-associate Charlie sends three men including his brother Clint over to the Isle of Sheppy.

Charlie’s men are about to educate Johnny with a real measure of retribution, when Bill arrives and rescues his boyhood chum. After a violent melee with Johnny, Clint is taken to hospital and later dies. Johnny & Bill are now both marked men.

Returning to London, Bill & Johnny hook-up with Grady and Gulf-war veteran, Vince. They meet Frank Brannon and the job agreed - to escort old-guard negotiator Tony McConville to make a pick-up from Vragovich, a Kossovan drug-lord in north London.

Unknown to anyone, Frank Brannon has coerced Vragovich to execute McConville - the last instalment of Brannon’s own 40 year vendetta against the men who killed his brother in 1966.

Over the course of their manhunt, Charlie’s men brutalise Johnny’s foster mother, leaving her in a coma. Johnny spends the night finding and killing the perpetrators.

Amidst the tit-for-tat aggression, Johnny’s stalking of his ex-lover and the bravura text-messages, and telephone-calls to Charlie, the job goes ahead. Frank Brannon’s long-distance requital is set to unfold - then Charlie and Grady arrive with Rachel as captive. Charlie wants blood for blood, and Grady intends to instigate an act of reprisal on Johnny that has been festering since he was fourteen-years-old.

Johnny’s final sunrise is witness to a savage and relentless, four-way crossfire in the dirt and fumes of Vragovich’s five-a-side car park. The chaotic encounter resolves four threads of revenge, Grady’s, Charlie’s, Johnny’s and Brannon’s.

But someone else has one more card to play in this apocalyptic revenge story.

The final emotive gun-battle between Grady and Johnny is charged with redemption and the discovery of who really informed on him six years ago furnishes Johnny with an ironic canvas for the final hours of his own spiritual journey – but Grady’s dying confession is nothing compared to what Johnny has to reveal, and it is the killer-twist in this vendetta infused odyssey that provides the real revelation - who is the ultimate Rat King?
